To evaluate the performance of Amiad Filtration on New York City municipal water, we collected samples of (1) unfiltered water and (2) after filtration through an Amiad twin parallel SAF4500 using our extrafine "EF" screen (rated 25 microns absolute). Samples were sent to Spectrex Corporation (www.spectrex.com) in Redwood City, CA, for structural particle analysis. Particle sizes are stratified by integer micron size.
The samples were collected from the domestic water supply, before and after Amiad, at an 835-unit residential building at 37th Street / 11th Avenue, New York City.
Spectrex Codes B268A (unfiltered), B268D (filtered)
Summary:
Total Suspended Solids, unfiltered: 1.43 ppm
Total Suspended Solids, filtered: 0.19 ppm
Overall reduction of TSS 1 - 22 microns in size: 87%
Note that particle filtration is statistical, not absolute. Reduction increases from about 30% of particles smaller than 5 microns up to near total reduction (with statistical deviation) above 12 microns.
